Doro, the European market leader in senior-compatible products, introduces the Doro Hemma Doorbell, a Smart Home product designed specifically to cater for the evolving needs of senior users. Developed to enhance confidence and address peace of mind, the revolutionary smart doorbell connects seamlessly within Doro’s ecosystem.
The Doro Hemma Doorbell will be available to purchase exclusively in-store at Harvey Norman and via the Doro website on 1st July, retailing at €169. The doorbell and its video capabilities have no subscription cost – no additional fees are required to access the full functionality of the device.
The doorbell features two microphones that offer the clearest sound possible, making door-side conversation seamless for seniors and users that are a little hard of hearing
The enhanced camera allows seniors to view the entrance of the residence at any time of day. At night, the camera automatically activates advanced night mode to detect movement and identify visitors with sharp clarity. So, whether its friends visiting or a late-night delivery, the senior can keep an eye on their property around the clock.
The device has a user-friendly interface that alerts users’ smartphone or tablet when someone approaches their door, and gives them the ability to view outside . This gives seniors time to decide if it’s a visitor that they want to answer themselves or hand over to a trusted friend or relative via the ‘Assist Me’ feature. Unlike conventional smart doorbells, this feature gives trusted friends or relatives the ability to take over and help the senior if they are in need of assistance.
For added safety, the Doro Hemma Doorbell is equipped with a loud siren function to deter intruders. The siren can be enabled by the senior themselves or a trusted loved one if they’ve taken over the call using the Assist Me feature.
The Doro Hemma app is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
Acknowledging one of the growing needs for senior citizens, the government has approved £50 million in home adaptation funding for 2023, following research which shows that nine out of ten seniors prefer living and aging at home. However, with 82% of seniors experiencing visual impairment, 46% lacking general confidence, and 42% facing a loss of dexterity in their later years, telecare services are increasingly vital to the 1.8 million seniors who rely on them. The Doro Hemma Doorbell is an example of a product that facilitates independent living for seniors and peace of mind for their circle of care.
Ben Crompton, Managing Director UK and Ireland, Doro, said: “The Doro Hemma Doorbell is a testament to our commitment to empowering seniors' independence and peace of mind. With innovative features like the 'Assist Me' function, high-definition video, and remote engagement, we've created more than a doorbell; we've built a bridge to security, connectivity, and control for our beloved senior .”
